Today, the Russian Warcraft 3 team was unfortunately informed that their visa applications were rejected. This means that we will not see the second-ranked team of Group B during the European Nations Championship Finals 2008 in Leipzig.
However, we are fortunate enough, even in this situation, to find an alternate for the
Russian team. As a substitute
Denmark will take over the spot and give their best to proove that they still somehow deserved the spot.
We were able to gather statements by the responsible team-managers.
This is what Russia's team manager
Dominic 'sunny' Bougé has to say about the drop-out:
I am really sorry it came this far again - Russia not at the ENC finals. I guess it is a really sad moment, because we deserved to show our offline skills at a big event. We all wanted to meet each other in Germany, but due to visa issues, the embassy decided to reject our application. Anyway, we wish Denmark all the best and hope they will make the best of our spot! Denmark, bring home the title for Denmark and Russia!
Denmark's Henrik 'Kemper' Andersen says the following:
Denmark's Warcraft 3 team just got an invitation to the ENC finals in Leipzig, since Russia and other countries could not make it. We are happy to get this possibility again, since we have had lots of positive experiences with the ENC. Sadly, we missed the qualifications in very close games, but we enter the ENC finals to show that this was a mistake.
